A group of Nigerian clerics from various Christian denominations staged a peaceful protest at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) office in Asaba, Delta State, on Tuesday.
They were demonstrating against NAFDAC’s scrutiny of Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin’s Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministry in Abuja, specifically regarding his spiritual products, “Miracle Water” and “Miracle Soap”.
The clerics, numbering over seven, argued that NAFDAC does not have the authority to regulate spiritual products in Nigeria. They emphasized that spiritual products have spiritual backing and therefore do not require NAFDAC approval. They urged the agency to cease its investigation into Prophet Fufeyin’s ministry and focus on its core mandate of regulating food and drug products.
The protest was a show of solidarity among Christian leaders, who believe that spiritual matters should be left to religious authorities rather than government agencies.
