Truck Driver Arraigned in Osogbo Magistrates’ Court Over Alleged Dangerous Driving

Aminu Ibrahim, a 43-year-old truck driver, was arraigned in an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for alleged dangerous driving and disobedience to road safety ordinances.

According to Police Prosecutor ASP Jacob Akintunde, the accused committed the offense on August 20 at approximately 4:00 p.m. around the Kings University area in Gbongan, Osun.

Akintunde alleged that Ibrahim drove a Howo Sinno truck with license plate MGR 589XA in a reckless manner, without regard for safety, potentially endangering lives and properties.

The offense contravenes Section 18 of the Criminal Code Cap 115 and 116, Vol.11, Laws of Osun 2002.

Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in the like sum by Magistrate M. Olatunji.

The surety must be a civil servant on grade level 12, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and provide evidence of tax payment and passport-size photographs attached with an affidavit of means.

The case has been adjourned until September 24 for hearing.
