Guinness World Records has officially confirmed Ajao Samson, former Student Union President of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, as the world record holder for the longest reading aloud marathon, with an impressive 215 hours and 2 seconds.
This achievement was recognized on the official Guinness World Record website, stating that Samson achieved this feat in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria, from May 6 to 15, 2024. His goal was to inspire a reading culture and promote literacy development.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) congratulated Samson on his remarkable accomplishment, praising his resilience, dedication, and commitment to excellence. NANS noted that his achievement serves as a source of inspiration to thousands of Nigerian students, demonstrating that hard work and determination can lead to extraordinary success.
Ajao Samson who confirmed the development to Osun Defender expressed appreciation to God and supporters across the globe for their support.
According to the world record holder,“This was achieved because God made it possible, and because of the love, support and cooperation of my supporters. I am happy and grateful.”
The erstwhile student union government leader attempted the longest reading aloud marathon from May 6 to 15, 2024, at the Adolak Conference Hall in Osogbo, Osun State.
