The Osun State Police Command has issued a stern warning to individuals or groups planning to compromise the security of the state. The police formation has also said it is committed to maintaining law and order and will not tolerate any attempts to jeopardize the safety of citizens and visitors.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba through the Command’s spokeswoman, Yemisi Opalola on Wednesday, it also vowed not fold its arms and watch agents of instability and rancor to disrupt the calm atmosphere of Osun.
According to SP. Opalola, the warning became necessary following revelations emerged that some individuals were attempting to truncate the peace in the state.
She noted that an intelligence report from detectives has revealed that some persons, who are unhappy with the peaceful mode of the EndBadGovernance demonstration conducted in the state, are behind the plot to cause chaos.
The communique reads:
“The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that it is aware of the activities of some unscrupulous elements, who are attempting to disrupt the peace in the state. These individuals are unhappy with the peaceful protest (END BAD GOVERNANCE) carried out by the Coalition of Civil Organizations, Osun State Chapter, which was suspended on 6th August 2024, in honour of the Osun Osogbo Festival.
“The Command assures the public that it will not tolerate any attempt to jeopardize the peace and security of the state. The Command will not fold its arms to allow mischief makers to truncate peaceful atmosphere of the State.
“The public is hereby advised to remain calm and go about their lawful activities, and report any unlawful gathering in any part of the State.”
