Kindly share this story

The House of Representatives is to Investigate dismissal of 600 Central Bank of Nigeria CBN staff, by the Apex Bank.

This was sequel to a motion of urgent Public Importance moved by a member representing Karu, Keffi, Kokona Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State, Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi.

Mr Gbefwi, in his motion, argued that the arbitrary sacking of Staff without any justifiable reasons could affect the morale of other Staff.

According to the motion, some of the dismissed staff were of Directors Cadre who have not attain their 35 years of Service or eight years as director, as the law Stipulates.

He said many of the sacked staff may still have a lot to offer the CBN as a government organisation and Nigeria at large.

Adopting the motion, the House referred it to the Committees on Banking Institution and Federal Character for further legislative action, requiring them to report back to the House in the next four weeks.
