Oyewo Salutes Nigerian Media on 2024 World Press Freedom Day

A member of the 9th National Assembly, Hon. Olubukola Oyewo(Bukoy), has rejoiced with the media on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, celebrated every May 3 internationally.

This is contained in a statement Hon. Oyewo personally signed and made available to newsmen today in Osogbo the Osun State capital city.

This year’s celebration marks 31 years since the UN General Assembly’s decision proclaiming an international day for press freedom, and the All Progressives Congress (APC)chieftain says the occasion is an appropriate platform to appreciate media professionals, who risk their lives to keep society informed and educated.

“The media is an important player in any democracy and we salute and celebrate you, for helping to deepen our democratic traditions and ethos,”Hon. Oyewo stated.

The former lawmaker representing Osogbo Federal Constituency charged journalists to continue to be patriotic, work for the cohesion of the country, and exercise their freedom with a high deal of responsibility.
