Kindly share this story

A group of local government chairmen in Rivers State have approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order compelling the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services to provide adequate security for their lives and property.

The local government chairmen in the suit alleged a threat to their lives by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Their lawyer, Mahmud Magaji, said the police and the DSS have the obligation to provide them with security according to the provisions of section 215 of the 1999 Constitution.

Among other prayers, the council chairmen also prayed the court to compel the Attorney General of the Federation to ensure that only the laws passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly are enforced in the state.
