OSPOLY Mass Communication Dept Confers Eminent Alumni Award On OIBN Chairman, Others

The Mass Communication Department of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree(OSPOLY)has recognized the achievements of over 5 outstanding alumni at the premiere of an epic movie produced by students of the tertiary institution.

Held on Thursday, 18th April at the Osun State Polytechnic main campus, the 6th edition of the award ceremony recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves through significant and impactful contributions to their alma mater, society and the world in general.

The National President of OSPOLY Mass Communication Alumni, (MAOS)Adekunle Sikiru, during the occasion said, “On behalf of the department, I would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to this year’s award recipients. Their remarkable accomplishments across a diversity of fields – from government, business, and philanthropy– serve as inspiration to the OSPOLY Mass Communication community.

“We celebrate how they have exemplified the Department’s values of innovation, resilience, excellence, respect, and integrity, and served as torch-bearers of distinguished and outstanding service for future generations of OSPOLY graduates.”

This year, the department conferred the Multi-Talented Young Enterpreneur of the Year Award on the founder of Orisun Igbomina Broadcasting Network(OIBN), Comrade Ayodele Agboola for his achievements in the business sector, as well as his exemplary service to MAOS as the current BoT chairman.

According to the organizers, Comrade Agboola has spent his career advancing the lives of individuals and communities, particularly the underprivileged.

Delivering his appreciation speech on behalf of the awardee, Michael Leshi assured the management of the Mass Communication Department of OSPOLY of sustained pursuit of the progress of the institution, saying Comrade Agboola will continue to give priority to the intellectual development of students.

“The BoT Chairman of MAOS is deeply honoured to receive this award from his alma mater. OSPOLY Mass Communication Department has played a formative role in his life, shaping not only his academic development but the values he has carried throughout his career,” said Michael Leshi.

A host of other old students and staff of the school section including Alhaji Moshood Oladosu and Temitope Daniel were recognized for their outstanding contributions through the years.

The glamorous event also featured the Adetoye Adeleke Scholarship Award, an initiative of MAOS designed to immortalize its pioneer National Secretary. Undergraduates, who have performed well in the current academic session, were presented cash prizes as motivation and encouragement from the Association.

Dignitaries at the well-attended gathering included the Dean of Student Affairs, Osun State Polytechnic, Dr. Tope Abiola;Head of OSPOLY Mass Communication Department, Mr. Idowu Akinrosoye,amongst others.
