Ismail Haniyeh, an exiled Hamas leader, is currently mourning the loss of his three sons in an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) airstrike in Gaza.

Haniyeh made this known during an interview with Al Jazeera news platform today.

The Hamas leader confirmed the incident while describing his sons as martyrs in the struggle for the liberation of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“Israel is driven by the spirit of vengeance, and disregards any value for standards or laws,” Haniyeh stated while condemning the attack.

The tragedy unfolded as Haniyeh, living in exile in Qatar, received the news while visiting injured Palestinians in a Doha hospital.

According to a report by Al-Aqsa TV, the strike targeted a vehicle carrying Haniyeh’s family members, resulting in the deaths of six people, including Haniyeh’s sons and other relatives.

The conflict in Gaza, which has raged for months, has led to staggering casualties and displacement, with over 1.7 million Palestinians displaced and tens of thousands injured, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
