The Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Solomon Arase has condemned vehemently the new wave of killing of police operatives in some parts of the country.
The former Inspector-General of Police emphasized that police officers are also humans who deserve the support, encouragement and protection of the citizenry.
Arase stated that attack and murder of policemen in some states have become worrisome, and called on the Inspector-General to take another look on the capacity of state Commands nationwide.
Spokesperson of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, quoted Arase to have asserted that there must be consequences for the avoidable incident.
He added that any state Commissioner of Police found to be incompetent, derelict, operationally or tactically porous should be eased out, to avoid huge police casualties.
“We have had more than a fair share of these ugly developments in recent time and this called for an integrated intelligence policing,” Arase said.
