The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant successes in its efforts to combat terrorism and criminality across the country. According to a press release from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, police operatives have repelled several terror attacks, recovered arms and ammunition, and apprehended suspects in various operations.
In one notable instance, police operatives attached to the Borno State Command successfully repelled an attack by armed terrorists on the Jakana Divisional Police Headquarters on November 28, 2024. The terrorists, who attacked the facility at about 01:00 AM, were met with strong resistance from the police, resulting in several of the attackers sustaining bullet wounds. Unfortunately, one police officer was injured during the exchange and is currently receiving treatment.
Similarly, operatives attached to the Sokoto State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted raids on several bandit camps in the state, recovering AK47 rifles, magazines, and live ammunition. The occupants of the camps fled upon noticing the presence of the operatives, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.
In another operation, police operatives in Delta State intercepted and engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun duel, recovering 3 AK-47 rifles, 2 pump action rifles, and ammunition. The suspects were forced to flee into a nearby bush with bullet injuries.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the gallant operatives for their bravery and commitment to duty, urging them to remain steadfast in their efforts to decimate the plans of criminally minded individuals.
