The Office of the Governor of Osun State has issued a statement categorically denying allegations that Governor Ademola Adeleke donated One Billion Naira of taxpayers’ funds to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
Contrary to claims by the state All Progressive Congress (APC), the donation was a private philanthropic gesture by Dr. Deji Adeleke, a prominent businessman and brother of the Governor.
Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor’s Spokesperson, emphasized that the donation was not sourced from the state’s treasury and had no connection to the Osun State government.
Rasheed highlighted Dr. Adeleke’s history of supporting worthy causes, including contributions to the state government during the COVID-19 pandemic and to the Federal Government.
The Spokesperson also underscored the Governor’s commitment to serving all citizens of Osun State, regardless of their religious affiliation, citing the ongoing completion of the state Hajj Camp as an example.
The statement urged the public to disregard the APC’s “false accusations and misinformation” and to recognize the Governor’s exceptional performance in office.
