A member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Iwo Constituency, Honourable Adesina Rabiu Atanda has debunked an allegation of poor performance leveled against him by a group from his territory.
The aggrieved constituents have accused the lawmaker of doing nothing towards the betterment and development of Iwo since his inauguration in 2023.
In a communique issued on Tuesday, Hon Atanda described the allegations as baseless and false.
The legislator said, in spite of not receiving any constituency allowance from the Assembly, he has been making sure dividends of democracy get to the door steps of constituents from his monthly stipends.
According to Hon Atanda, “contrary to the allegations by the people, our constituency office was sited along D.C School, Olukotun Iwo, where many political issues have been addressed positively. “They also made mentioned of Osogbo-Iwo road, am happy to say that our amiable Governor Ademola Adeleke is fully aware of the present condition of the road while we have also deliberated about it on the floor of the House but later informed that the affected road has been awarded to Peculiar Construction Company by the immediate past administration and the said Construction Company has been invited about two consecutive times.
“Similarly, two offices have been inaugurated and construction work has commenced immediately and by the grace of God, the two buildings would be ready for official commissioning in the next three months. Also in order to empower the youths in the constituency, Skill Acquisition and Youth Empowerment programme which to enhancing productive capacity of the youth in becoming self employed are about to equipped.
“And for me to carry school children along in my Constituency, I have organized free summer holiday lessons which has commenced fully yesterday Monday for the SS1, SS2 and SS3’s students as well as free WAEC and JAMB registration for the best three students per center among other laudable and developmental programmes for the betterment of all and sundry which are underway.
“Additionally, was my urgent intervention in a bid to restore light for the people of JAGUN ILU, JUNCTION OSOGBO, AIIYE, OMOSAN, PONKUKU and other community due to the effects of heavy storms that occur early this year that affected some areas through breaking of electric concrete poles, concrete poles was donated by me and as well paid for the reconnection.
“During just concluded 2024 Hajj, I met with the Iwo local government pilgrimage members in the holy land and five hundred thousand was donated by me (500,000.00)
“Part of it was my intervention at BOLUWADURO community AGORO, Iwo where I paid for the full installation of their transformer, as well as NURTW Iwo chapter, Two hundred thousand (200,000.00) was donated to them for the reparations of their Motor Pack.
“About health, 15 vulnerable patients have been operated (Appendix) at Ibrahim hospital at Oloola’s compound where I paid for the bills and drugs, to mention but few.
“All the mentioned activities above were there for them to see as they are not an hidden things, all are for their use at any point in time. I am not in the Assembly to warm bench or watching others, I am there to represent and defend my constituents positively and my representation will continue to contribute to the welfare and betterment of the entire people I represent from Iwo Constituency and I promise you all once again that I will not dissapoint you all” he said.
