Osun Police Command Nab Suspected Cultists

The Osun Police Command on Wednesday, 7th August paraded several suspects arrested for their involvement in unlawful societies, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The suspects include Olasunkanmi Qudus (22)Jubril Abdulazeez (20), Okunola Oluwaseun (21),Etinosa Oluwaseun (23).

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include 1 pump action gun, 1 locally made cut-to-size pistol, 2 axes, 1 cutlass, 1 live cartridge.

Osun Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Yemisi Opalola told newsmen during the parade in Osogbo that “On July 27, 2024, at about 5:30 pm, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Okuku received a distress call about a suspected cult clash at Okuku town, close to Osun State University, Okuku campus.

“The Anti-cultism unit was contacted, and the suspects were arrested. Discreet investigation led to the recovery of the mentioned guns.

“Some of the suspects confessed to being members of the Buccaneer Confraternity, while others owned up to being members of the Black Axe confraternity.”

SP Opalola further noted that all suspects will be charged to court after completion of the investigation.

The Police Command leveraged the session to reiterate its commitment to curbing cultism and maintaining law and order in Osun.
