Eight suspected stowaways in two speedboats have been arrested by naval officers while attempting to board MV Northernlight in Lagos channel.
The Director of Naval Information, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, said, they were sighted by the patrol team of NNS Beecroft when trying to board the vessel from the rudder compartment.
Commodore Adams-Aliu, said that five of the suspects, admitted that they attempted to board the vessel to enable them travel abroad.
The suspects and speed boats have been handed over to Nigerian Immigration Service, Lagos State Port and Marine Command for further investigation.
