Two commissioners in Rivers State have resigned from their positions on Wednesday.
They are the Commissioner for Education, Chinedu Mmom, and the Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu. Both commissioners cited a toxic environment as the reason for their resignation.
Dr Worlu also said he resigned because of the attempt to join the executive and legislative arm of government together in Rivers State.
Professor Mmom and Dr Worlu were among the nine commissioners who resigned from Governor Fubara’s cabinet last year during the heat of the political crisis in the state. They were, however, re-nominated and sworn in January following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.
