The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has given the go ahead for campaigns to start today ahead of the Edo State Governorship Election.
This follows the completion of party primaries and the publication of the list of successful candidates and their running mates.
The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC, Mr. Sam Olumekun, made the announcement in a statement he issued in Abuja.
Seventeen political parties are fielding candidates in the election, sixteen of which are males.
Section 94(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, states that campaigns by Political Parties in public shall commence not earlier than 150 days before polling day and end 24 hours prior to that day.
