Government Seals Unlicensed Hospital In Rivers State After Demise Of Patient

The government of Rivers State has shutdown a medical facility in Port Harcourt after a patient died during an appendectomy procedure in the center.

Divine Love Hospital, which is located along Okporo Road, Rumuodara, was sealed after officials of the State Ministry of Health investigated and discovered it is unlicensed and unapproved to operate.

The Director of Medical Services at the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Wachukwu Vincent, tells newsmen that the owner of the hospital will be prosecuted.

On his part, the Rivers State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Ebbi Robinson, said the sealed hospital was not registered and there were issues with documentation and certification.
