Kindly share this story

The Ondo State primary election of the All Progressives Congress(APC)has been marred by violence and protest across the state.

Ahead of the November, 2024 gubernatorial election, the APC appointed a committee led by Kogi State governor Usman Ododo to conduct an election to choose the candidate of the party.

Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is seeking a fresh mandate from the people is slugging it out with Olusola Oke, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, among other aspirants.

Orisun Igbomina 102.1FM reports that almost all of the aspirants have rejected the exercise and called for the cancellation of its outcome.

Violence erupted at Ward 1, Stella Maris College in Okitipupa on Saturday. The exercise was disrupted by some thugs and this forced voters to flee the location to safety.

Gunshots were also heard in some parts of the state during the exercise. No aspirant or faction of the party has claimed responsibility. However, some of the aspirants have reacted directly or through their aides.

Mr Rotimi Ogunleye, the media aide of Olusola Oke has faulted the primary election. He said, “Why can’t they follow the due process? The national leadership of the party should call Ododo to order, they should follow the guidelines they released.”
