WTO Launches $1.2m Facility in Nigeria to Boost Food Safety and Agricultural Exports.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) introduced a $1.2 million standards trade development facility in Nigeria to enhance food safety and agricultural exports.
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, WTO Director-General, stressed the importance of addressing Nigeria’s food safety challenges during the inauguration ceremony.
Despite Nigeria’s potential in agricultural production, issues like poor transportation and storage have caused rejection of products in global markets.
The facility aims to train and support Nigerian farmers to meet international standards, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with food safety regulations.
